My name is Derek Hutchison and this is the part of the site where I get to tell you about myself. For twenty years I worked with children of all ages as a youth pastor and pastor. Through youth programs, services, and mission trips I had the privilege of encouraging young people throughout all stages of their lives. It wasn't until three brain surgeries delivered a course correction in my life did I decide it was time for a new adventure. So, I spent two years as an elementary school janitor. That's right don't go back and reread the last sentence you got it right... a Janitor.

This may seem like a strange twist in career choices but something miraculous happened in the process. I got to see children in a school environment in a way that was impossible for me as a Pastor. And through that different lens I learned one simple truth about kids and schools...the Butterfly Effect!

Now, I spend my time speaking to students and teachers encouraging them in their daily, academic, and personal lives.
